Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comment form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.

An anonymized string generated from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The Gravatar service’s privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile image will become publicly available in the context of your comment.

MEDIA

If you upload images to a website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Website visitors can upload and extract any location data from images on the website.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our website, you can agree to have your name, email address and website stored in cookies. This is for your convenience, so that you don’t have to re-enter your details when you leave your next comment. These cookies will be stored for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is deleted when you close your browser.

When you log in, we also set multiple cookies to store your login information and screen selections. Login cookies are stored for two days and screen selection cookies are stored for one year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login information will be stored for two weeks. If you log out of your account, your login cookies will be deleted.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be stored in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the publication ID of the article you have just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this website may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly as if the visitor had visited another website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and track your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged into that website.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the password reset email.

How long we keep your data for
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are stored indefinitely. This is so that we can automatically recognize and approve any subsequent comments, rather than keeping them in a moderation queue.

For users who register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users may view, edit or delete their personal information at any time (except that they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also view and edit this information.

What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this website or have left comments, you may request an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You may also request that we delete all personal data we hold about you. This does not include data that we are required to keep for administrative, legal or security purposes.

Where your data is sent to
Visitor comments may be checked using an automated spam detection service.
